You're invited to my community discussion on social media for under-16s

23 April 2026

Dear resident

I’m writing to invite you to a community discussion on 14 May on how we can better protect children and young people online.

The government is considering setting a minimum age for social media and is consulting on this and other stronger online safety rules for young people.

I want to make sure Chelsea and Fulham’s voice is heard so I’m holding a local discussion on 14 May to gather residents’ views. Please do join us. Everyone is welcome, whether a parent, carer or young person – or simply someone who cares about children’s wellbeing.

Please join me on Thursday 14 May, 6.00–7.30pm at the Sands End Arts and Community Centre, Peterborough Road, SW6 3EZ.

I plan to feed residents’ experiences and ideas directly into my consultation response. If you would like to respond to the consultation yourself, you can do so here.

Spaces for this event are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment and let us know if you can’t make it.

I look forward to seeing you on 14 May.

Best wishes

Ben Coleman
Member of Parliament for Chelsea and Fulham
