Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

18 December 2025

Dear resident

I hope that the festive season will give you a chance to rest, recharge and enjoy time with family and friends.

Of course, this time of year isn’t easy for everyone. I’m thinking of those without a home, anyone struggling with their mental health and people who feel alone.

So I’m looking forward as always to the Big Christmas Day Lunch run by HF Giving and H&F Council – bringing warmth and companionship to more than 400 residents who’d otherwise be spending the day alone. It’s always a special occasion.

And throughout the holidays and beyond, tremendous local charities will be there for neighbours who need support across Chelsea and Fulham. They’d love your donations! Here are just three of my favourites.

  • The Barons Court Project provides exceptional support to homeless people, and Christmas is a particularly busy time for them. They’re fundraising to add a new floor to their Day Centre for an art studio and community art classes. You can donate here.

  • The Creighton Centre fights loneliness and brings people together across the community. Right now they urgently need funding for a project close to my heart – supporting people with learning disabilities in Fulham through activities that bring real joy, friendship and connection. You can donate here.

  • Chelsea Big Local (formerly the World’s End and Lots Road Big Local) has spent over a decade supporting residents of all ages with everything from social sessions to fitness and job skills. They need help to keep this brilliant work going. You can donate here.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our emergency workers on duty over Christmas, keeping us all safe.

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year.

PS I hope you enjoy the beautiful designs above created by the winners of my primary school Christmas card competition: from left to right main winner Sai (age 9) of Burlington House School, and runners-up Yeva (age 11) of Bousfield Primary School and Abigail (age 4) of St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School. Thank you to everyone who took part this year!
