Acceptable Behaviour Policy

I am proud to represent the Chelsea and Fulham constituency. I work with a small team of dedicated staff to support as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

I know how tough things can be for my constituents. I understand how upset and angry they may feel as a result of the issues they are facing.

Unfortunately, sometimes people are aggressive towards my team even though the problem is not of their making and they are here to help. That isn’t okay.

If this happens, I’ve told my team that they don’t have to help further. If necessary, I encourage them to involve the police.

Aggressive behaviour includes language (whether verbal or written) that can cause people to feel offended, afraid, threatened or abused.

By this, I mean language which is offensive, derogatory or discriminatory, including criticising people on grounds of race, sex, gender or identity. It also covers making serious allegations against individuals without any evidence.

Even a comment aimed at someone in another organisation who is not in my team can be aggressive because of the effect it may have on my team.

I hope this is helpful.
