Breakthrough in making Putney Bridge Station step free

2 October 2025

Dear resident

Since becoming your MP I’ve been campaigning alongside residents for Putney Bridge Station to be made step free and truly accessible to everyone. The stairs are a nightmare for people who are older and Disabled or travelling with buggies and luggage.

I’m delighted to tell you we’ve won a breakthrough.

Transport for London has agreed to undertake a detailed, up-to-date feasibility study on the work needed for step-free access at Putney Bridge Station. It will also do studies for 16 other stations.

This is the most hopeful moment for many years. Once the study has reported and the cost is clear, we’ll be pressing to get the funding.

Thank you for all you’ve done to help get us to this point.

It’s an honour for me to work alongside so many residents, including the tremendous Fulham FC Disabled Supporters Association and the more than 800 people who signed my petition. In my meetings with the Mayor and his team, being able to assure them of the community’s support for change has been essential.

I’ll keep you updated about the next steps to win this campaign for local residents and make Putney Bridge Station accessible for all.

Best wishes

Ben Coleman
